Jamaica, VA – It took three tries to get the 35 lap Victory Lap Late Model feature under way and once it did it was all Tom Cohick of Gloucester, VA as he led flag to flag to take home his first victory of 2009 in his #00 D&M Cabinets, Gloucester RV Rocket.

Bowie and Cohick led the field to green with Bowie taking control. It would be short lived as Matt Morgan would bring out the first caution before a lap could be completed. The second restart saw a four wide battle head into turn 2 and bringing out a second caution with a spinning Scott Adams.

On the races third restart Cohick would take control form the outside and lead the first lap. Cohick would build a big lead with Bowie and Anthony Kincaid battling for second. Cohick began working lapped traffic to perfection extending his lead to about ten car lengths over Bowie.

On lap 21 Davis Lipscombe took over the fourth with an inside pass of Vaughan Haywood in turn 3. On lap 25, caution would fly for a pile up in turn 1 involving six cars. On the restart Cohick would pull away form the field only to have it closed back up with the races final caution on lap 28. Once under green Cohick would once again pull away to take the win followed by Ben Bowie, Anthony Kincaid, Brett Carlton and Lou Littlepage Jr.

“We made some big changes to the car after qualifying and it took me those two first restarts to figure out what we had. The car was just awesome tonight, I could take it anywhere on the track, it feels great to get the win tonight,” commented Cohick in victory lane.

In other action Tony Wood of New Kent, VA took over the lead and the win in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman feature when the two leaders of Roger Jamerson and Kenny Moreland got together in turn 2 on the final lap. In the New Generation Racing Sprint Car feature Daren Bolac of Moyock, NC drove from his eighth place starting spot to take the lead on lap 19 and then go on to take the win.
